Pyrite Answer: Sinus Mass With Nasal Obstruction Mimicking Allergic Rhinitis in a Child; Wang JD, Lee FY, Chang TK; Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (May 2010)

A 25-month-old boy presented with progressive prominence of right face. Physical examination showed palpated mass over right maxillary area and narrowing of right nasal cavity. Computed tomography of the brain revealed 1 destructing mass filling in right maxillary sinus. Initially, we preferred the diagnosis of metastatic neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, and Ewing sarcoma. But the result of the mass and bone marrow biopsy with the immunohistological study, established the diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia, type M7 FAB classification with myeloid sarcoma (MS). Affected children with MS commonly present with mass arising in orbit, skin, and lymph node. The case report extends the clinical spectrum of MS presentation.
